Inphone is ramping up by acquiring antenna sites from Sunrise.

Vevey, December 2nd, 2009 – Inphone Ltd, the 3rd Swiss mobile operator, with headquarter in Vevey, today announces that it has bought the former Tele2 mobile antenna sites from Sunrise.

Inphone reported that it has acquired over 400 leased sites, of which approximately 145 sites have been built to date. By implementing a new and state of the art technology in these sites, Inphone will be providing an excellent voice quality to the Swiss market. The roll-out of this new solution will be done during the first quarter of 2010. Inphone will subsequently address specific customer needs of travellers and cross-borders. It will address the market through a multi-branding strategy, where the brand “Inphone” will be used initially. Typically, a Switzerland/Germany dual country proposition will enable Inphone customers avoiding high international roaming charges.

“This antenna site acquisition is perfectly timed as we are now becoming the new challenger in the Swiss mobile market. We will act so that competition will remain, this to the benefit of the end-users and finally to the Swiss economy” explained Olivier Leuenberger, General Manager of Inphone.

Inphone, who to date concentrated its activities in deploying dedicated mobile services for corporate customers, also renewed its national roaming agreement with Sunrise which will enable it to provide national coverage and seamless mobility.
